So, perhaps all of life is one perfect moment. I think of this scientifically, philosophically and spiritually. Scientifically, as a object travels faster and faster, more stationary objects appear to go through time slower and slower. At infinite speed all stationary objects will appear to cease movement through time (or so Einstein and Oppenheimer tell us, who am I to doubt?) Spiritually, we are confined by a dimension of time. God is not. He sees all from beginning to end. All of time, all of life is one moment. Philosophically, to me, all we do, adds color and hue. These colors create a portrait of our lives. Our lives become more like a painting than a movie. All continuity in one "Moment." One perfectly created "Moment", dignified by God.
The world that God created for us is fallen. There is sickness, heartache and death. But this is still the world that God created for us to live in. It is beautiful and holds the promise of creation. Make every task, every relationship, every opportunity a "Moment." Each is fleeting, each is eternal. The same is true of our lives. Cancer or not, we are mortal. Live in this world that God created for you and thank him for it. Even in times of hardship, this is a beautiful world. The opportunities that we are given are grand. Maybe I wanted the color of excellent health in my pallet. Instead, God has given me the color of cancer. But I still have the chance to Paint my Moment with the colors given to me. So do you.
26 Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
27 So God created human beings in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food." And it was so.
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning... (Gen. 1:26-31)
Be Blessed.
