How I Met Julia: After I got out of the Navy, I came home. Now, my brother, Stephen (3 1/2 years younger. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. Mark, Sheri, Jonathan, Stephen, in that order...Mark and Stephen are ordained ministers. So is my father. So was my mother's father. Guess I'm the black sheep.) Anyway, I was in my brother's room looking at some of his photographs. He always dated really beautiful girls. So, I was going through the photos, and said, "This one's a pretty girl." He said, "Yeah." I looked through some more photos, came across another and said, "This one's pretty, too." He said, "Interesting... That's the same girl." I said, "I must meet her." We lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. She lived in Kokomo, Indiana. So, I wrote her. She called me and invited me to a wedding in which she was the maid of honor. After, we went back to her parent's house and she cooked me chicken croissants. We looked at some photos of a trip she had taken to Europe. Over the next four years I chased her. She was very difficult to catch. I dated lots of girls in the meantime, but never gave up on Julia. Eventually, I proposed to her on Sullivan's Island, Charleston, South Carolina. I got down on one knee overlooking Charleston Bay (where fort Sumpter is) and proposed. She sat down on my knee and started crying.....ok, so, what does this mean? She didn't give me an answer for 3 days! She finally said yes at the airport, before she left Atlanta, returning to Kokomo. She is very good with people. Very social. Very endearing. She is very scared of this Cancer, thing.
